Project Description

The Challenge

The High River Library in southern Alberta needed to create more storage space for their growing collection of books. While a renovation is on the horizon, they urgently needed to create space for more shelving. A major goal was to have it match their existing shelving. They were also looking for creative ways to drive patronage, which would in turn increase revenue and funding for future projects.

The Solution

McLennan & Company’ library expert recommended a solution that would condense the existing shelving footprint. In the saved space, they installed 6 tier shelving to replace the 5 tier system, and added an entire row of shelving to the library while maintaining wide, accessible aisle space. The new shelving had beautiful wood end panels, which were added to the existing shelves to enhance their appearance and bring the look together. A large bulletin board and shelving unit was added to the lobby to create advertising and communication space along with more storage. A mobile shelving unit for hanging bag media is moved to where they need it most for exposure and flexibility. Storage was added, advertising space created, and the solution matches the existing shelving.
